Now, NPC Shield Mark 1 (All three types) has 13 Regen as well, since it too has 600 Capacity.īasically, the modified file enables NPCs to regenerate shields at the same exact rate the player does, whereas the original Crossfire file enables NPCs to regenerate shields nearly 10x faster than the player. How to uninstall Freelancer Crossfire version 2.0 from your computerThis web page is about Freelancer Crossfire version 2.0 for Windows. To further clarify as an example, Player Shields with 600 Capacity have a Regeneration Rate of 13. After all, why should NPCs with the same technology as the player be able to regenerate shields ten times as fast? In any case, if anyone wants me to upload the modified file with more reasonable NPC Shield Regen to a Dropbox or whatever and share it, just ask.ĮDIT 3: To clarify, I changed all NPC Shield Regeneration rates to the player default. I mean, what are you gonna do if they cheat in singleplayer, OP-R8R? Sue them? You have fun with that. But either way I think it's really sad and stupid for a mod developer to try and control how people play said mod. If the SP Anticheat is -intended- to work or not, I have no idea. Updating the post to reflect that.ĮDIT 2: Apparently OP-R8R lied about Single Player having cheat detection! I found and edited the file containing the NPC Shield Regen info, and changed it so that NPC shields never regenerate (Regen = 0) just to see if it would go 'LOLNO' and "boot me out" like OP-R8R said it would. P.S: I'll see if I can find that forum post again and link it here.ĮDIT: I was wrong about him saying 'git gud', but the following is still pretty sad. Lead Dev says that singleplayer has cheat detection and he'll be kicked out of his game if he modifies it. TL DR - Enemy Shield Regeneration is retardedly strong and fast, making battles last forever. The sad thing is, all I gathered from google searches to find out how to shut off (or at least lessen the strength of) the shield regen on enemies was what appeared to be none other than OP-R8R saying the game has Cheat Detection in Singleplayer (f*cking really?) and that the guy would get kicked out of his game if he modded it. That's not difficulty, that's filler garbage. I'm on Mission 10 or 11 after retrieving the Proteus Tome, and I'm honestly about ready to give up and just go back to friggin vanilla FL because of this. They don't do enough damage to punch through their shields, and because of the almost-immediate regeneration, that means that even if they could, it wouldn't matter because without Anti-Shield cannons, you're SOL. My second reason is, with the enemy shield regeneration being what it is, NPC allies (like in the main story) are utterly WORTHLESS. It turns what should be a minute-or-three long dogfight with multiple fighters, into fifteen-minute long skirmishes that could drag on for ANOTHER fifteen if you lose your targeting lead for even a split second. ![]() My reasoning behind this is that the enemy shield regenerates FAR too soon, and FAR too fast.
